Aftermath of the IABSE Workshop

On April the 26^th, 2017 the Hellenic Group of IABSE organized and hosted an Engineering event focused on “Specific Design Aspects of Structural Projects” with the parallel scope to honor three Group members in recognition of their long standing presence and participation in the activities of the Group.

The awarded Colleagues, Messrs X. Dimou, X. Botopoulos and C. Tzanos are Civil Engineers with very long records of experience and achievements in the field of Infrastructure Projects Design.

The value of the event was greatly enhanced by the participation of the highly esteemed professors S. Dritsοs (University of Patras) and G. Gazetas (NTUA) who kindly accepted the invitation to present some topics of their recent work.

The event attracted the interest of a large number of Civil Engineers and Civil Engineer students who attended the technology edge presentations:

·     “Assessment and Retrofit of Existing Structures as per EN 1998-3 and Greek Retrofitting Seismic Codes.” by Prof. S. Dritsos,

·     “Seismic Design of Foundation Structure System: Intentionally Exceeding the Conventional Geotechnical Limits” by Prof. G. Gazetas

The ceremony of awarding concluded the event with all attendees offering appreciation applause to the honored Colleagues.
